Not many coincidences exist in the mind of Pueblo County High School girls swim coach Dan Radiff.
For the first time in his career, Radiff received coach of the year honors Saturday following the Class 3A state swim meet. The team gathered for photos Tuesday at Pueblo County High School alongside their trophy...
“We made a statement. This was icing on the cake. Our community was proud. Our team was proud.”
The Hornets’ longtime coach was serenaded with chants of “Radiff! Radiff! Radiff!” as he approached the podium and successfully made it to his spot without falling.
“Daisy James said we should start chanting Radiff,” Steele said. “So we all just went after it.”
The entirety of the situation — receiving 3A’s coach of the year honors, his divers having an outstanding weekend, and the swimmers fighting for every point, had Radcliff sentimental.
He knows his Max and Shirley continue to be a force in his life, as well as those around him.
“This is for all three of us,” Radiff said.
