Absences and Tardy Policies

This year PCHS is getting strict with their tardy and absence policies. Students will only be
excused if they are faced with a sickness, injury, any family emergencies/ death, and any
religious holidays. If parents do not call within the span of 24 hours, the student will NOT be
excused.Students also can get up to 3 days of prearranged absences for trips or activities if they
have a verified low amount of absences/tardies; but if they have active unexcused absences on

their record, they do not get access to those 3 preplanned days.

If your parents don’t excuse you, OR if the student is skipping without a valid reason, leaving
them unexcused for a total of 10 days, will leave them with the start of formal truancy
procedures. If this continues to happen and the student misses 10% or more of the school year,
which is 15 or more days, including both excused and unexcused absences, or consistent tardies,
making the student labeled as “chronically absent,” it will or could result in truancies or a

mandatory academic attendance plan.

If a student is tardy, but with a valid reason, such as an appointment, they must bring a slip or

document that shows proof as to why they were late.
