In commemoration of Labor Day which is the celebration of the American labor movement and the contributions of laborers to American society, Pueblo County’s Fire Department daily labor will be summarized. But, first in order to talk about their everyday functions the difference between a rural and urban fire department needs to be asserted.

The functionality of a rural fire department is considerably different from urban firefighters in terms of training and the standard of their operations. They have to take into consideration the amount of time it’ll take for someone to call in an emergency along with the other factors of time that comes with it.
Not only that but they also have to consider the amount of water they have and if it’ll be enough for a fire. With all of these factors taken into account the type of training is again different from what urban firefighters have to go through, conservation of water and time is the main reason behind it.Everyday activities don't differentiate from any other type of fire department, the exception might be that our firefighters are more involved with the community.

In anticipation and remembrance of Patriots Day, firefighters and community members of Manitou Springs hike up a one mile incline numbering at around 2,700 steps. This event is an annual memorialization of 9/11 for all those that lost their lives during the tragic event, including the first responders that continue to suffer from the after effects.

In appreciation of our firefighters and first responders PCHS wishes them a wonderful Labor Day.
