Fun Facts About Nukes

6/1/2021

By: Amairani Chacon

Have you ever wondered how many nukes are waiting to be deployed to destroy your entire country? So have we! So we'll be giving you the amount of nukes in the world and which countries have them. We'll also be covering what countries are starting their nuclear programs back up.
Starting off we’ll be talking about what countries have nuclear bombs and how many they have from least to greatest. As you're well aware North Korea started up some drama with their introduction to nuclear testing as they were launching missiles and seeing how far they would get. North Korea is suspected of having thirty to forty nukes. North Korea has apparently stopped producing nukes due to former president Trump's deal with Kim Jong- un. But North Korea certainly has the resources to keep producing nukes, at least from six to seven per year. North Korea has publicly announced that they will be stopping their nuclear program and to assure the world they allowed journalists but not experts to see them blow up their only rocket launch testing grounds. Next up is Israel with ninety confirmed nuclear bombs. The treaty that limits or bans the amount/development of nuclear tech was signed by each country developing or holding nuclear bombs but there are a few countries that have nuclear programs but haven’t signed on the treaty, these countries are Israel, India and Pakistan. India with 150 nuclear bombs is another country on our list, which India is currently pursuing new tech for ballistic missiles, sea based missiles and delivery system tech. Pakistan with only ten more nukes has 160 nukes that we know of. They currently have paused their nuclear program and have planned or are increasing their uranium possession. One of our greatest allies The United Kingdom is on our list with currently 215 nuclear bombs in their possessions. The United Kingdom is set to increase their nuclear weapons to at least 260 this year. Another one of our allies, France currently has 290 nukes stockpiled or active. France currently has no plans to increase their nuclear weapons mostly due to the fact that the nuke treaty limits the amount the country can produce. As you know the greatest threat to America and the free world is China, currently they have 320 nukes that we know of but some experts have speculated that China might have more nukes than they let on. They are a part of the treaty that states that the development of nuclear weapons is forbidden in order to preserve humanity and the world. Last year the Pentagon stated that China plans to double the size of their nuclear arsenal, what this means for the current treaty is still unknown as we’ll explain later in the article. America is second to last on this deadly list with 5,800 nukes stocked or active. With the treaty being about twenty three years old our countries and others alike that are included in the treaty are looking to expand their nuclear arsenal, not only that but our country as well as others plan to update the current technology as there were no advancements after the treaty was signed. Moving on, the country with the biggest nuclear arsenal is...you guessed it, Russia. Russia currently has 6,375 nukes either stored or active. As I mentioned earlier they plan on improving their arsenal as well, recently they’ve made an announcement that China and them will be working together on a nuclear program in order to discover new technologies. Although it’s worth noting that they haven’t confirmed it would be for energy purposes or military use.
