Pueblo County has an extensive softball program. They have three teams total. All teams challenge the spirit of the other teams in the league. PCHS has a varsity, junior varsity and a C team. All of the teams are fierce competitors with strong players and strong coaches. There are nine girls who compete at the varsity level as well as a few “floaters” who play JV and varsity.

The varsity team consists of the best nine players that could be on the field. The varsity girls practice multiple times a week and play on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Competing on any of the softball teams requires hours of commitment. Freshman Makayla Parlett says, “I like the softball program at PCHS because they make sure you get work in at practice and they also play fair when it comes to positions, they always put the best 9 players on the field every game. Another thing I like about the program for softball here at PCHS is that the coaches and the team make you feel like family. Everyone is so accepting and caring.” The players for PCHS are very happy and thankful to be playing for the Hornets.

The varsity team has put their heart into their games over the season. The girls of PCHS speak highly of the softball program. Freshman Morgan Moser says, “I do like the softball program at PCHS, they care about their players and their not afraid to tell you what you are doing wrong so you can fix your mistake and grow as a player.” The student athletes are thrilled to continue playing and grow strong as the season continues.
