Speaking About Speech, Debate: Good or Bad?

9/14/2023

By Audrey Schmitz
There’s no debate that Speech and Debate is one of the best clubs Pueblo County High School has to offer. It’s not only an extremely fun club, it’s also good competition and can help with many other fears or skills, such as public speaking.

Willow Stephenson, junior member said, "Speech and Debate has really helped me develop my public speaking skills and has been a lot of fun."

Speech and Debate can also help with future academics, such as college, and getting scholarships. It can also help with having experience to get jobs and other opportunities.

Lily Miller, senior Speech and Debate member said, ”I’m so excited to sharpen my public speaking skills, my critical thinking, and my patience in speech and debate this year! It’ll make me a better performer and cool person.”

Speech and Debate is an amazing opportunity for the entirety of PCHS, and a fun way to learn new skills and discover new talents, and experiences that stick with you for life and unlock amazing opportunities for the future.

Speech and Debate meets on average twice a week, usually on monday and friday, but there are some variations. Coaches are Mr. Kennedy Pugh and Ms. Roxy Pignanelli. People are allowed to join throughout the year.
