STEP program

3/26/2019

As students join the School To Employment Program (STEP), they further their knowledge on modern medicine. Students apply to be apart of this program by an in depth application followed by an interview with the Community Relations Program Coordinator, Stacy Cristelli. Within two semesters, these hard-working and dedicated seniors work in the medical field. They receive hands-on learning and get real world experience from Parkview Medical Center's Staff. Students in this program get the full medical experience by receiving scrubs to wear for their daily activities.

Parkview allows for these students to achieve success and encourages PCHS students to establish relationships with real patients in real life experiences. There will always be a need for health care and medical advances, luckily for PCHS students, they are rewarded with an amazing opportunity to explore the world of medicine. Cristelli confirms, "I think it's a good program because it gives students the opportunity to explore the health care careers to see if it is something they want to purse in their future. They get exposed to a lot, meet new people and they really get to see if they thrive in that environment." Senior, Sydney Purkey said "The most interesting thing I have seen while being a STEP student is how a colonoscopy is performed."
