Student Council

1/24/2022

by Angelina Romo
Student Council is sponsored by Kylie Richardson, at Pueblo County High School. You are able to join this class as soon as you enter high school. You need to be able to be responsible and respectful, no trouble. When you hear “Student Council”, you think, "Oh yeah, they give us our spirit weeks”, or “Oh yeah, they’re doing the toy drive.” What you don’t realize is that they are the leaders and representatives of our school; they make us look good to our community.

For example, they set up fundraisers to help others not just in our school, but our entire community.  Our student council is a voice that represents our high school. They speak for all of us at times. These leaders take a major role in Pueblo County High School, after all they do give us our spirit weeks and set up our major events. Student council can really brighten up our school days and make school more fun.

“Why did you take this class?” Junior Samantha Hansen, the junior class student body president stated, “I decided to take Student Council because I wanted to be more involved in the school, and I wanted to do as much for the County and our student body as possible.” Samantha is hoping to run for Student Body President next year.

“What was your favorite activity that the student council has done so far this year?” Hansen replied, “My favorite opportunity that student council has provided for me is that as Junior Class President I have gotten much more involved in the school because it has really pushed me out of my comfort zone.”

Make sure to stay tuned on what the student council has to offer, and don’t be afraid to thank them if you see them in the hallways!
